The Shoei X-SPR Pro is the new Race helmet from Shoei. The X-SPR Pro is the successor of the Shoei X-Spirit 3 and is tested according to the new strict European ECE22.06 certification and in addition, the helmet is also FIM certified which is becoming increasingly mandatory at more circuits.
The Shoei X-SPR Pro will compete with the AGV Pista GP RR, Bell Race Star DLX, X-Lite x-803 RS Ultra Carbon, Shark Race-R Pro GP, Scorpion EXO-R1 EVO Carbon, Roof RO200 Carbon, Icon Airframe Pro, HJC RPHA 1 and the Arai RX-7V Evo
The X-SPR Pro motorcycle helmet has been updated in terms of ventilation and aerodynamics resulting in even less drag.
Material
The outer shell of the X-SPR Pro is made of Shoei’s shock absorbing AIM+ which stand for Advanced Integrated Matrix+. The AIM+ outer shell consists of several layers of fiberglass composite. AIM+ has the property that the shell has ultimate rigidity and is shock absorbing.
The helmet is available in 4 outer shell sizes (XS-S | M | L | XL-XXL). The more outer shell sizes the better. The number of 4 shell sizes is excellent because it not only ensures that the helmet is always compact around the head making the helmet safer, besides that it is safer a compact helmet also looks better. It also features a multi-density EPS inner shell. This provides an great impact absorption making the helmet even more safe.
Visor
The visor of the X-SPR Pro is the Shoei CWR-F2R visor which is Pinlock lens prepared. The Pinlock lens that is included in the box is a Pinlock EVO DKS-304 lens. This visor has a 2-dimensional shape and ensures that the visor stays clean and does not deform as a more curved visor often does.
The X-SPR Pro also uses a double secured visor lock system. This is an additional lock for securing the visor to the visor mechanism. This reduces the risk of the visor coming loose from your helmet in the event of an incident.
Ventilation
The X-SPR Pro has a total of 7 ventilation openings that you can open and close. Shoei has placed a cheek vent system in this sport / racing motorcycle helmet. There are air vents placed in the cheek pads that spread the airflow from the chin opening over your face when you are riding. All this air can then escape through the 6 air vent outlets.
Aerodynamics
Shoei has refined the aerodynamics of the X-SPR Pro. The X-SPR Pro has an integrated spoiler, vertex generators at the visor and a lower spoiler. This has resulted in a 3% reduction in overall drag and lift compared to the Shoei X-Spirit 3.
If we look further into the aerodynamics, we see that there is a stabilizer placed on the back of the helmet. This stabilizer ensures that the helmet has a more controlled airflow and therefore you remain more stable while riding.
Comfort
The X-SPR Pro has an 3D Max Dry inner lining that you can fully customize to your style. For example, you can take off each part of the lining and adjust it to the right size and there are cheek pads in different thicknesses available. In addition, the entire lining is removable and washable.
The motorcycle helmet also has an Emergency Quick Release System (EQRS) which is an important point. This ensures that, in the event of an incident, the helmet can be removed in a safe and easy way and the helmet has a Double-D clossure. The X-SPR Pro is also prepared for a hydration system for the longer races.
