Scorpion EXO-1400 EVO Carbon
The Scorpion EXO-1400 EVO Carbon is the sport-touring helmet from the brand Scorpion. The EVO has a more oval fit and comes with a Double-D Closure.
The EXO-1400 EVO Carbon will compete with other sport-touring helmets such as Shoei GT Air 2, AGV K6, Shark Spartan GT Pro Carbon, Bell Star DLX MIPS, Arai Profile-V, Shoei NXR 2, HJC F70, Icon Airflite and the HJC RPHA 71
Material
The 1400 EVO is made out of Carbon fibre which is the highest quality material a helmet can be made of, and carbon helmets are usually the lightest helmets available. But more on that later.
The helmet comes in 6 sizes and 3 outer shell sizes, which is great to see. The more outer shell sizes a helmet has the better. A helmet with more outer shell sizes not only looks better, it is also safer.
The weight of a helmet is an important part because lighter helmet prevents fatigue in the neck and improves the overall riding experience. When we weighed the EXO-1400 EVO Carbon in a size M the scale indicated 1404 grams. This is an interesting results since it is lighter than the EXO-1400 Air Carbon.
Visor
So far for the Material and Weight. The last part of the review in the studio is the visor. The visor of the 1400 EVO Carbon is a 2D visor that is anti-fog treated and pinlock lens prepared. This visor offers a wide field of view and the 2D visor ensures that the view does not distort which curved visors often do.
The Pinlock lens is also included in the box which is a pinlock maxvision 120 lens. This ensures that your visor never fogs up while riding.
The EVO Carbon also has an integrated sun visor that can be controlled by a slider on the side of the helmet. The sun visor is also anti-fog treated on both sides. A nice extra you get, when buying this helmet, is that it comes with a free dark smoke visor which is a big plus.
Comfort
The inner-lining of the 1400 EVO Carbon is Scorpion’s Kwik wick 3 liner. This means that the liner is removable, washable, moisture wicking, and anti-bacterial.
The Scorpion EXO-1400 EVO Carbon is tested according to the new ECE 22.06 certification which is becoming mandatory.
A unique feature of the 1400 EVO Carbon is Scorpion’s Airfit system. When you look inside the helmet you see a big red pump, which allows you to inflate the cheek pads on either side of the helmet. You can, also, release all the air with the small push button next to the red pump. This ensures that you will always have a snug fit.
The helmet is prepared for a communication system thanks to its speaker pockets and has grooves so that riders with glasses can put them on easily.
