The Revit Sand 4 H2O Gloves are built to handle the toughest conditions and the worst weather. While they may be mistaken for the similarly named Revit Sand 4, the Rev’It Sand 4 H2O Motorcycle Gloves differ substantially in both construction and safety features, as well as their black and black and red color schemes. With a recommended retail price of about 130 Euros or 160 USD, these gloves will be competing with the Klim Adventure GTX Short, Dainese D-Explorer 2 Gloves, and the Alpinestars Valparaiso V2 Drystar.
Material
The Rev’It! Sand 4 H2O Gloves are primarily manufactured from goat leather, and offer a good level of abrasion resistance and comfort. Panels between the fingers are made of cowhide leather, with extra reflectivity on the knuckles. The back of the hand and thumb feature PWR Aramid stretch material for enhanced abrasion resistance. A secondary leather panel on the thumb and little finger mean better durability. Lastly, the glove is coming with PWR Shell stretch material in 500D on the cuff.
Safety
In terms of safety, the Revit Sand 4 H2O Adventure Gloves are bringing a greater level of toughness than their non-waterproof counterparts. In the knuckle, instead of the soft TPR insert, there are TPU hard shell knuckle inserts built to take greater impact as well as additional TPR soft protectors along the length of the hand and fingers. Lastly, you’re getting a TPR palm slider in case of any slides or falls as well as an additional PWR shield for abrasion resistance on top of the leather construction. These gloves are Level 1 certified with a focus on lighter weight and flexibility.
Comfort
When it comes to comfort, this Revit Sand 4 H2O Short Glove also offers a Hydratex Z liner with Revit’s Maximum Comfort fit, or McFit technology. Similar to the 3-layer Gore-Tex Pro shell that comes with Klim gear with the inner, outer, and waterproof layer all laminated together, the Hydratex Z liner offers two benefits: first, reduced wear as the different layers aren’t rubbing against each other, and second, a much more comfortable and tactile glove, crucial for when you’re going off road. However, although listed as a 3-4 season glove with its waterproof layer, ventilation in warmer weather may be a concern.
With stretch fabric all along the back of the hand, the glove is flexible, especially when the leather along the fingers gets broken in. Pull them on using a tab on the cuff and fasten them with a single Velcro strap. Once on, they offer a nice range of motion without any bothersome seams on the inside. Touchscreens aren’t a problem with the Revit Connect fingertip and you can use the gloves on your device with either your thumb or index finger.
Summary
The Revit Sand 4 H2O Dual Sport Gloves are a welcome addition to their adventure riding line. Not only do they offer a tough set of protectors all around, but they also offer premium construction that is purpose built for dual sport riding.
