Revit Blackwater Smock Product Description
The Rev’It Blackwater Smock is Revit’s new launch in the adventure riding segment. A lightweight, waterproof option with a removable hood and even CE Level shoulder and elbow protectors, this is a very versatile option for hitting the trail.
Nonetheless, if you are looking for something more from Revit, then you also have the option of upgrading to the Revit Element, which is bringing more Cordura reinforcement, with a similar construction and fit.
So, with a recommended retail price of about 360 Euros, or 430 USD, the Revit Black Water Jacket will be competing with the Klim Baja S4, Klim Enduro S4, and the Alpinestars Venture-R Jackets.
Material
The Rev’It! Blackwater Adventure Smock is mainly constructed out of Ripstop stretch 3 layer PWR shell with a waterproof Hydratex backing laminated onto the interior to keep you dry. In the high impact zones of the shoulders and forearms, you are also getting 750D Cordura ripstop material, which will add to the abrasion resistance off road. The jacket comes with reflectivity in the back as well as a bit in the hood, too and has been prEN 17092 Class A certified, which is understandable given that it is meant as a more lightweight option for off road riders.
Safety
For protection, the Revit Blackwater Motorcycle Jacket is equipped with a set of lightweight SEESMART CE Level 1 shoulder and elbow protectors. These are designed with a focus on flexibility and airflow as well as safety. Though this jacket does not come with a back or chest protector pocket, you can still upgrade the safety that you’re getting.
The jacket has been designed to integrate with the Revit Proteus protector jacket, which you can wear underneath. And though it is sold separately for about 200 Euros, it brings vastly improved CE Level 2 SEEFLEX shoulder and elbow armor as well as a back protector and CE Level 1 chest armor. This will raise the overall price, although the overall cost is not much more than what you would spend getting a new armor jacket to go with your off road gear.
Comfort
To keep you comfortable while out on the trail, the Revit Blackwater Dual Sport Jacket boasts a fully waterproof Revit 3 layer Hydratex liner. If things do get a bit hot, there are two zippered vents that can be opened on either side of the chest that will vent to the liner and double as a pocket. There are another set of vents in the bicep and two on the back that also close with zippers. These vents are glove friendly and also weatherproof since they are water-resistant zips.
You also always have the option of adding or removing the hood of the jacket, which comes with a zipper down the front if you need a bit more air, and attaches to the body of the jacket with a zipper. With the hood removed, you can further improve airflow by opening up the upper chest zip enough to put the jacket on like a hoodie. Moving further down, there are adjusters in the cuffs with Velcro, as well as a set of toggles around the hem and around the waist. For storage, there are a set of pocket slash vents on either side of the chest fastened with zips and in the middle is another small rabbit pouch fastened with snaps and a zipper.
To make putting the smock on easier, Revit have included a snap and zip on the right side with a water resistant zipper, so that you can slip it comfortably over your head. The interior has been designed to help flow air and the armor is easily removable to fit the Proteus protector jacket underneath. While some may prefer this sort of hoodie style slip on slip off jacket, if you prefer a more standard zippered jacket with similar features, you can also take a look at the Revit Element jacket.
Summary
The Revit Blackwater Smock represents a unique entry from Revit’s adventure and dirt collection and it does come with an interesting set of features on offer. Not only are you getting that removable hood, which will also be useful for hiking, but a set of already included protectors and full waterproofing.
