Although the Badlands Pro is already a high-end set and has been around for a while, Klim has managed to raise the bar even higher with the Badlands Pro Redesigned. The new set comes with optimized material, more ventilation, more storage space, a better fit and more freedom of movement. The jacket comes with a suggested retail price of 1260 euros or about $1149 and the pants come with a suggested retail price of 820 euros or $749.
Material
The shell of the jacket consists of Gore-tex 3 layer material, which guarantees staying dry during rain storms. On the shoulders, elbows and on the front of the arms we see custom-made super fabric, which contributes to both greater freedom of movement and safety. We also see 630D Karbonite and ripstop panels in the areas most likely to be impacted. This ensures optimal wear resistance. Furthermore, we see optimized 400d and 200d material in the body and the medium wear areas and 630d cordura on the chest pockets and the lower pockets of the jacket. Also, the jacket features waterproof YKK, VISLON zippers and can be opened and closed both from the bottom and from the top. Finally, the jacket is CE double AA certified in according to EN 17092-3.
Protection Jacket
The jacket from climb features CE-level 2 ventilated shoulder and elbow protectors, with the protectors on the elbows being adjustable. In addition, there are optimized pads for coverage and stability during a crash on the limbs and on the side. We also see a Viper Pro CE level 2 ventilated backpack and the jacket is equipped with back protection. Furthermore, we see that the jacket comes with an improved kidney belt that features access ports in the lining, which in its turn ensure that the belt is easily adjustable. Finally, we see chest protection made of perforated XRD Impact which is a very strong material from a third party. You can choose to upgrade this protection to D30 CE Level 1 protection.
Comfort Jacket
On the underarms we see two large adjustable ventilation zippers. These wrist vents have a double zipper, so you can open them from two sides. If we look further we see 4 ventilation zippers on the front of which the lower two can also be used as storage pockets. We also see two ventilation zippers on the biceps and on the triceps two ventilation outlets. In addition, on the back there are also two ventilation outlets to be found. Finally, at the top of the jacket, we see two hooks to which the collar can be attached. This optimizes airflow to the chest.
In addition to being loaded with top ventilation, the jacket is also equipped with a lot of storage space. First of all, on the front of the jacket we see 2 water-resistant cargo pockets and a chest pocket, with a waterproof storage pocket attached to it. Also, the back features a large back pocket that you can open from both the left and the right side and we see a hidden emergency pocket on the forearm. If we then start looking at the inside of the jacket, we see two zippered interior pockets on the bottom and a small, vertical Velcro storage pocket on the right side.
Finally, for the comfort section, we look at the fit and features of the jacket. The Badlands Pro jacket features a moisture-wicking polygenic anti-odor inner lining and the jacket has a mesh cooling lining in the sleeves. Furthermore, we see adjustment options on the collar, biceps, wrists, forearms and at the bottom of the jacket. In addition, we see leather finishes on the wrists, a removable and adjustable kidney belt and a zipper connection for the pants.
Material Pant
Like the jacket, the pants are made of 3 layer goretex material. Where the jacket features superfabric on the shoulders and elbows, the pants feature it on the knees. We also see leather on the inside of the knees, for more grip and protection. The pants are equipped with 3M Scotchlite reflective material and we see 630D Karbonite and ripstop panels on the areas most likely to be impacted. furthermore we see that the pants feature optimized 400d and 200d material on the medium wear areas and in addition to that we see 630d cordura on the trouser pockets, the pants have YKK water resistant zippers and like the jacket the pants are certified according to EN 17092-3.
Protection Pants
The Badlands Pro pants feature CE level 2 hip and knee protection, with the protection on the knees being adjustable. In addition, we also see a tailbone protector. Finally, just like the jacket, there are pads that provide extra coverage and stability during a crash.
Comfort pants
We see two ventilation zippers on the front of the pants and two ventilation outlets on the back of the pants on the thighs. We also see two more ventilation zippers on the side of the lower legs.
When we look at the storage space that the pants offer, we see that the pants feature 2 large pockets on the front.
Finally, we look at the fit and features. Like the jacket, the Badlands pro pants feature a moisture-wicking anti odor inner lining and have a zipper attachment for the jacket. The pants fit over off-road boots and come with several adjustment options. For example, we see adjustment points on the knees, lower legs and at the waist.
