Dainese Druid 4 Leather Gloves Review
The Druid 4 gloves from Dainese are part of the Dainese 2022 collection. As we are used to from Dainese, the gloves comes with all kinds of details and specifications. The gloves are made of several types of leather, including goat and sheep leather. Besides the classic black color, the pair of gloves is also available in two other colour combinations.
The Druid 4 motorcycle gloves have a recommended retail price of €199,95 or about $225. The Dainese gloves are available in sizes XS up to three times XL, this applies to all color combinations of the Druid 4. The gloves fall in the urban category and are marketed as real racing gloves so they can be used for different riding styles.
Material
first thing you will notice about the Druid 4 gloves are the palms. These are made of a special type of goat leather, which results in a super soft palm that provides a lot of grip.
Besides the palm, the goat leather is also located between the thumb and index finger. This makes it easy to pick up things and gives you control over the throttle and the brakes when riding. However, the largest part of the glove is made of sheep leather, as the entire outer surface is made of this special leather.
The use of all kinds of leather is actually nothing new, since leather, among other things, offers a lot of freedom of movement. This ensures that you don’t have to worry about cramped fingers after a long ride.
Protection
The protection specifications is very extensive, starting with the protectors of the knuckles. These are made of carbon fibre and cover both the knuckles and the back of the hand.
Besides the fact that the knuckles and back of hand are protected by carbon fibre, they are also held together by a four-way elastic. This ensures that the shape of the glove is maintained.
Another type of protection we see are the polyurethane protectors on the palm and between the joints of the fingers. This type of material is known for shock resistance, high abrasion resistance and for its high resistance to shearing. The design of the Druid 4 glove takes extra care of the little finger. The little finger is a vulnerable end of the hand and needs extra protection according to Dainese.
Therefore, in addition to the polyurethane protectors, an extra insert is placed on the side of the little finger. This is made of thermoplastic resin and thus serves as extra protection.
The last thing that is important to mention is that the Dainese Druid 4 are tested according to European regulations. This concerns the following certification: CE – Cat. II – EN 13594/2015 Standard cat. II lev. 1.
Comfort
The Druid 4 glove is equipped with ventilation holes on the inside of the fingers. This ensures that the temperature inside the glove remains at a comfortable level. The shape of the glove also contributes to comfort.
For instance, the glove has several specifications that can adjust the shape and feel of the glove. Some examples are the pre-shaped fingers and adjustable cuff strap, allowing you to adjust the glove to your own preferences. To ensure the fit, there is even a fuse over the adjustable cuff strap.
The material and protection ensure that the hand is safe to use, but in addition to these specifications, it is also very important that you can still move your hand and fingers properly and definitely need to be user friendly while riding. The preformed fingers, carbon fiber knuckles and all other gadgets ensure no obstruction in use of riding a motorcycle when, for example, using the clutch, throttle and the brake.
